Heavy Hitter

Updated: Aug 31, 2022

LOGLINE: Recently single Michael could never have known how a chance encounter, with the beautiful Holly, would drastically affect his life.

Heavy Hitter was inspired by a conversation I had with a friend about dating. Recently, having dipped back into the dating pool, I realized so much has changed. People meet online, can be whoever they want to be, say whatever they want to say, and who would ever know the truth? Finding someone who values and exercises honesty feels like such a rare things these days. But, then we wondered how honest is too honest? Can you trust someone's intentions? And that's when this script came to me.

I wanted to poke fun at how unpredictable life can be, especially when it comes to romance.

Heavy Hitter is my second short script and, admittedly, one of my favourites.

About Me

Hi! My name is Liesel Galletly. I have always dreamed of being a writer, but knew that it was a difficult business to make a living in, and so, instead, I went to school for Social Work and Behavioural Science.

Three years ago, when I moved back home to Canada, as a newly single mother of two, I had no clue what to do with my life. The responsible thing would have been to get a 9-5 job and find stability. Fortunately, I came across the opportunity to attend Toronto Film School and my amazing Admissions Advisor helped me realize that it was time to finally follow my passion.

The best part about becoming a TFS student was the community I've built with my peers. They proofread my scripts and introduced me to FilmFreeway. I am forever grateful for their friendship and guidance, which has brought me here, right now.

I am so honoured and amazed to see my work be appreciated and recognized. I hope this is only the beginning. The next step will be to move this story from page to screen, and if the universe allows, this could be a reality in the not too distant future.
